Valentine’s Chocolate Recipes

February 10th, 2012

Chocolate and Valentine’s Day go together like a horse and carriage. Like the moon and the stars. Like Marge and Homer. Like red socks and a white wash. (I was never going to make a writer for Hallmark).

But why not surprise your loved ones with a romantic home made chocolate treat this Valentines? Stirring in, to quote the Grand Dame of Telly Love herself, Cilla Black, a whole lorra, lorra love? I’m Kate from What Kate Baked and it is with great pleasure I present to you some of the sweetest chocolate treats from the blogosphere, perfect for that very special someone…

First up, my go-to blog for all bakes cocoa, Chocolate Log Blog. These Chocolate and Lime Curd Mascarpone Tarts are decadent, rich and ought to really be available by mail-order for romantics everywhere.

Whooooo loves you? And whoooo’ll be receiving these wonderful Valentine Owl Cookies from Amelie’s House? Owl bet these brilliant biscuits will bewitch your Valentine!

Bring a little French flair into proceedings with these very simple, but oh-la-la-tres-magnifiques Mini Chocolate Orange Pots by Fuss Free Flavours. Taking a mere five minutes to put together, allowing plenty of time to bribe the kids to leave Mum and Dad alone for JUST FIVE MINUTES for that romantic meal a deux.

Look no further for a bit of hot stuff on the 14th February than Lavender and Lovage’s chilli based Mexican Hot Chocolate. Perfect for warming the cockles of any heart.

A romantic roulade would make a fabulous finale to any Valentine’s dinner, and Dom from Belleau Kitchen has created this Zesty Chocolate Orange Roulade, filled full of rich, softly whipped cream and one seductive secret ingredient: orange honey syrup.

For a fabulously fun and decadently delicious take on the traditional Welsh Love Spoon, and a rather lovely gift to present to your cariad (that’ll be Welsh for love), look no further than Delicious Delicious Delicious’ Chocolate Party Spoons.

Beating garage forecourt flowers and too tight polyester underwear absolutely hands down are these marvellous Muscovado Truffles from Poires au Chocolat. The way to any one’s heart is through their stomach after all.

These absolutely adorable Valentine’s Pink Praline Macarons with White Chocolate ganache by Maison Cupcake sure look Wonderful Tonight, will make anyone fall Truely, Madly, Deeply in love and I know I for one would give My First, My Last, My Everything to have one!

When researching this post as soon as spotted Made With Pink’s heart stoppingly impressive and glorious Biscuit Joconde Imprine I knew it had to included in this round up. A labour of love maybe, but an absolutely stunning centrepiece to any celebration I’m sure you’ll agree.

And last, but certainly not least, and sure to provide a very happy ending to any love story is this delightful Vegan Chocolate Cake with Pistachio Nuts from Ren at Fabulicious Food.

And as I stroll, romantically, off in the sunset, my arms wrapped round an extra large bar of chocolate, I wish you all a very Happy Valentine’s Day.
