This week we are delighted to welcome Nelly from Nelly’s Cupcakes, who has been very busy hunting down some brilliant blog posts to share with you this week. She tells us that she has had a lovely time reading lots of fabulous UK food blogs but had trouble narrowing it down to just 10! She has managed though, so grab a cuppa and enjoy…
Nelly says:
The sun has got his hat on, hip hip hip hooray … At least I hope he still has his hat on by the time this is published, if not, just pretend, OK?
There are lots of things going on this week from the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, to a fabulous 4 day Bank Holiday weekend. Let’s hope this lovely weather holds out so we can all get our BBQ on in true royal fashion!
So many lovely Jubilee related blog posts this week, alongside some wonderfully summer inspired recipes to enjoy this Bank Holiday weekend. I will definitely be rustling up a few of these gorgeous recipes this weekend, that’s for sure;
Let’s start with some regal recipes; the wonderful Made with Pink has created some truly beautiful Royal inspired bakes. I’ve found myself just sitting and staring with awe at her dome cake and hat cookies all week. I’m not sure I could make something as beautiful as this, but I am secretly dying to try.
Sticking with the Royal theme for a moment, how awesome is this Royal Guardsman cake from the lovely Ivy from Sniff and Snort? The answer is VERY awesome …
Speaking of awesome, check out this Queen of the Castle Bundt cake from Dollybakes! So much fun, and as she says “camp as a row of tents”…
Stepping away from the jubilee there were a couple of cake–tastic posts that caught my eye and tickled my tastebuds this week.
Firstly this fabulous cake-post from Laura Loves Cake got me fully in the mood for spring/summer, her flowerpot cakes are just adorable!
Secondly, the lovely Ros from Roswensian had me licking my screen with her bunting-clad strawberry cake. I mean, just look at that vanilla bean studded frosting! *drool*
One of my favourite bloggers of the moment is the wonderfully witty “Little Loaf”, her recipes and photography is always drool inducing, and the stories which accompany each post are fabulous. This week’s Princess and the Pea /Caramelized Apple, Cinnamon & Pecan Tartlets had me both laughing and dribbling (not an attractive combo)
I don’t know about you, but this hot weather has me craving ice cream pretty much 24/7, there have been so many wonderful ice cream posts recently but this particular one is a doosie! London Bakes created a Rhubarb and White Chocolate flavour, sounds delightful, no? AND just to make it that little bit more awesome, it is no-churn! Perfect for those of us without the fancy machinery.
Another fab no-churn ice cream recipe I stumbled upon this week was from the lovely Becky over at Beesteas. Her jubilee inspired fruity ice cream looks like the perfect refreshing treat for this bank holiday.
And finally, one particular recipe that really says summer for me is the humbly traditional trifle, I think I associate it so strongly with summer because we always had one for my Birthday in July, I have seen two wonderful trifle recipes this week, one from Made by Jayne with a fruity patriotic twist, and two decadent delights from Fabulicious food, both of these blogs had me hunting down some birds custard and jelly from the back of my cupboard.
Thanks for a great round up, Nelly! See you all next week for another Favourite Foodies round up!

Thanks so much for including me Nelly, I’m going to check out the rest of the posts now!
Aw, thanks for your lovely comment. Although agree, laughing and drooling at the same time is possibly not the best combo 😉
