Foodies100 Ten at Ten (81): The Cosy Edition

This week’s Ten at Ten is all about comfort. Whether it’s a warming soup, hearty stew of zingy curry, we want food that will melt our icy fingers and leave us feeling like we’ve just been wrapped up in a snuggly duvet. 

First up it’s Cook Sister who has a tasty recipe for French Onion Soup. The perfect starter for a dinner party or just a hearty warmer for a cold winter’s day.

Another great soup recipe can be found over at Ren Behan. The Butternut, Coconut and Hazelnut Soup is perfect for a cosy weekend lunch, plus it’s healthy too. Double win.

For something a bit different how about this recipe for Krupnik – Polish Barley Soup over at Soup Tuesday? Another healthy recipe packed full of comfort.

At this time of year the slow cooker comes into its own. This idea for Slow Cooker Beans would make a brilliant mid-week supper for a chilly day. It’s healthy and comforting at the same time.

Over at Tinned Tomatoes there’s a warming recipe for a Savoury Lentil and Bean Stew. A bowl of this with some crusty bread by the fire and those icy hands will have warmed up in no time.

Fab Food For All shares a filling AND healthy 5-A-Day Butterbean & Chorizo Bake. This would make a great alternative to the Sunday roast, if you fancy a change.

If you like a bit of spice in your food to counteract the chill outside then this Cauliflower Keema Curry shared by Deena Kakaya will be right up your street. The description of snuggling under a blanket and devouring this tasty curry has me wanting to get straight back into my PJs and whip up a batch right away!

There’s nothing like a hot plate of pasta on a cold day, so head over to We Don’t Eat Anything With A Face to check out the yummy vegan recipe for Pasta with Greek Tomato Sauce. A wonderful carb hit, if ever I saw one.

If you’re craving eastern flavours then this Mohinga Recipe – Burmese Catfish Chowder at Meemalee will be one to add to the menu. This is Burma’s national dish and a delicious sounding one at that.

And finally, something for a Friday night – this recipe for a Lamb & Mushroom Balti over at The Curry Guy. Best served next to a cosy fire with the remote control not too far away.
