Last week a group of lucky Foodies100 bloggers got the opportunity to meet and cook in Italian chef Gino D’Acampo’s beautiful house.Wow! You can imagine how excited everyone was to meet this chatty and funny celebrity!
Gino has teamed up with Highgrove Foods to create “Bake with Me”, a range of fresh, ready-made pizza doughs that will be available in the chilled section of selected supermarkets this autumn. Bake with Me is ready in three easy steps – simply unroll, add your toppings, and bake – simple! The fresh, ready to bake base includes a live yeast culture, making for a great taste that’s quite unlike your typical ready-made or frozen pizza base.
The perfect host, Gino generously kept our glasses topped up with chilled Prosecco whilst we had a hands-on session making pizzas using the Bake with Me range of pizza doughs. There are three alternatives to choose from, one being a pizza kit that comes with a jar of herb and tomato sauce and 400g dough big enough to feed the family.
The doughs are perfect for busy families who don’t have the time to make their own, this is a quick, mess free option that means you can have a virtually authentic hot pizza ‘made to order’ on the table within minutes. The pizza doughs even come rolled up in greaseproof paper to cook the pizza on which means you can whip them out of the packet straight onto a baking tray and no mess…at all!
Gino’s pizza making tips…
- Keep it simple
- Don’t use buffalo mozzarella (it’s too wet)
- Less is more (apparently we put too much cheese on our pizzas)
- Add any toppings (such a fresh basil) near the end of cooking, or even once the pizza has been taken out of the oven.
The Bake with Me range of ready made pizza doughs are available in Asda now.
Suffice to say we were all impressed with the finished results, and these ready made fresh doughs are versatile and can be used for so much more than just pizza. To demonstrate Gino made an awesome bun with hazelnut spread and banana in minutes. There were many ooo’s and ahhh’s as these were eaten.
Thank you to Gino for being such a generous host.
