When we created the very first Tots100 index in 2009, our intention was to showcase the UK’s most popular, influential and engaging parenting blogs. Foodies100 was the second community we launched, back in 2011.
We’re now many years down the line, but our core mission hasn’t changed.
But pretty much everything else has!
Social media has exploded and today we work with more than 15,000 UK bloggers on a range of projects across blogs, Instagram, YouTube and more. Our clients trust us to connect them with high-quality, authentic blogs with passionate audiences.
We are always looking at ways to ensure we continue to reflect the popularity and quality of the blogs in our community, and as a result, we have decided to make a small change to the criteria for a blog being included in our monthly charts.
- From May 1 2017, we reserve the right to not list sites that run cash/voucher giveaways in exchange for followers.
- From that date, we also reserve the right to not list sites that use giveaways to artificially manipulate page views, by encouraging users to load additional pages for the sole purpose of entering a competition.
We’re making this change because we believe such promotions unfairly skew page views and follower numbers, and do not result in genuine growth in engagement or influence.
Bloggers who choose to use these sorts of promotions are, of course, welcome to remain a part of our community, attend events and share their content with us, but their sites may not appear in the monthly ranking chart after May 1, 2017.
Bloggers running giveaways of prizes in partnership with brands will not be affected by these changes. We know that giveaways are a fantastic way of attracting new readers and rewarding our much loved readers and followers. We definitely don’t want to discourage people from having giveaways.
You can always find our full membership and eligibility criteria on the “How it Works” page.
Should you have any questions about the eligibility of sites to appear in Tots100 and our sister charts, then please do get in touch. We are here to help, and we love to hear from you.
