5 minutes with… Recipes Made Easy

Each week we are going to be introducing you to some of our lovely bloggers across our TripsTotsFoodies and HIBS community sites. Our next blog here on Foodies is Recipes Made Easy – why not settle down with a cuppa and share 5 minutes with Jacqui…

Describe your blog in 10 words or less

Home cooked Recipes Made Easy, for family, friends and fun.

How and when did you start blogging?

I have been a cookery writer and food stylist for over 20 years. I started Recipes Made Easy 2 ½ years ago when one of my sons was at uni and the other living on the other side of the world. They had started to ask me for the recipes they had grown up with and while other work was quiet, writing a blog seemed as good a way as any to share the many recipes I had written over the years both for them and to a wider audience.

What’s your favourite thing about your day job?

Being creative and working alongside other creative people. Working at home is great for the flexibility it gives but I love working on photo shoots in a studio as it really gets the ideas flowing when you are working in a team all focused on getting the best shots at the end of the day.

The last thing I ate was…

A slice of my home made sourdough bread and butter.

My dream travel destination would be…

Australia. I have been to Sydney a couple of times but my dream is to travel across the continent in a Camper van. It would be the only way to get a true feel of its sheer size.

My favourite place on earth is…

Late evening in the West End of London watching a good show. I love the theatre and it is one of the many reasons I love living here. In the summer I will walk home and crossing the river late at night, and seeing the whole of the London waterside lit up is always such an uplifting moment. Locally there are several really good fringe theatres too so I am spoilt for choice.

My personal style is best described as…

Non fussy, easy going and relaxed – and sometimes just a little bit disorganised. I like flexibility and the ability to be spontaneous, so I never plan in minute detail.

I can’t wake up without…

Coffee – it’s a cliche but it’s true

The place I feel happiest is…

At the table with my friends or family enjoying a leisurely meal with a glass of good wine in my hand. If it’s somewhere warm and dining alfresco then all the better.

One thing not many people know about me is…

I sing in a choir on a Wednesday evening.

My friends would describe me as…

A great cook and a fantastic host. A good listener, fun to be with and always up for trying something new. At least that’s what they tell me to my face.

My party trick is…

Rustling up a last minute dessert (or meal) from next to nothing at short notice if friends pop by unexpectedly.

What motivates me is…

My family, – keeping them happy keeps me happy. And in my career, the world doesn’t stand still and I want my food to reflect the changes. I like to help others to learn to embrace the rewards of home cooking.

In 5 Years Time you’ll find me…

Still in the kitchen or just maybe in that camper van crossing Australia.

A big thank you to Jacqui for spending 5 minutes with us. You can find her blog at Recipes Made Easy, or follow her on Instagram or Twitter.

So You Know...

As you've likely heard and seen, there's an increasing focus on the authenticity of follower growth and engagement on social platforms across the Influencer Marketing community. The platforms themselves have taken measures to deter inauthentic activity and brands now more closely scrutinise the audiences of the influencers with whom they are partnering.

The Flea Network has implemented a system that will detect abnormal spikes in following and engagement, and flag these properties. Of course, such spikes can often be attributed to viral posts or high-profile brands that bring greater exposure to some content.

If one of your social accounts is flagged by our system without an obvious reason, we may reach out to you for assistance in understanding it. If we find any influencer has artificially inflated their audience size or engagement using paid acquisition or automated, third-party tools, we will remove them permanently from our influencer community.

Feel free to reach out to us at bloggers@fleaenterprises.com with any questions or comments.

Thank you!
