Mother’s Day Meals
It’s Mother’s Day on Sunday so I’ve pulled together a few suggestions on what you foodies think makes a wonderful Mother’s Day meal.
The Incidental Parent Erica says her family love raclette! She says is a perfect Mother’s Day dish, as there’s hardly any preparation involved and so no one spends ages in the kitchen. Not sure what raclette is? It’s where you melt cheese in little dishes and pour it over meat and vegetables. Her recommendation with the dish is a bottle of bubbly!
Last year, Devon Mama, Hayley fairly heavily pregnant and her son wasn’t yet two years old. So her husband invited her mum and dad round to join us and he cooked for all of them. He even made her dates wrapped in Parma ham which he hated but she loves. Hayley said it was perfect as she could stretch out on the sofa between courses.
Katy from Katy Kicker says that her husband made her a wonderful roast dinner, from scratch. This was when she was 8.5 months pregnant with her first daughter. The meal included homemade stuffing, gravy etc. She says it was a real treat and it made a nice change not to have to make it herself – or clean up afterwards!
Lyndsey from Me, Him, the Dog and a Baby says she will still recovering when her first Mother’s Day came round. Her husband isn’t a cook, so they went to McDonald’s. It was exactly what she needed!
Christian from An Island Chef says he think that roast chicken is a winner. He’s shared his recipe for a garlic roast chicken. Sounds heavenly!
Sophie from Soph Obsessed says her late Granny used to make a cauliflower soup with homemade bread rolls and crispy bacon. She was passed the recipe but she’s never been able to face making it herself since she passed. But last Mother’s Day, her son and husband found the recipe and made it as a surprise! What a lovely idea.
Do you know if your partner and kids have anything nice planned for you for Mother’s Day? I expect we’ll have a big family lunch at my Mum and Dad’s house and all the family are invited.
Happy Mother’s Day to all you wonderful Mums out there!
